Still on KI we found a recept how to prepare a Koala...
In spite of what they told us, we saw at least some of the Little Penguins at Kangaroo Island but from far away…
On mainland again we headed East to Victoria. In Horsham we visited a friend and met his mother, who lives since more than 20 years in Victoria. We learned a lot how German emigrants live in Australia, heard stories about of the excitement of stock-breeding, about how to deal with water and having less water. And we enjoyed a lot of her hospitality for a couple of days.
Together we visited the Grampians, where a flood damaged the most of the roads some days ago. The Beehive Fall was surprisingly almost dry after so much rainfalls in the last days. The road- and trail-closures kept us away from many other well known lookouts and waterfalls.
The nice relaxing days ended and we were curious to see the real tall trees at Otways NP and the Platypus we didn’t see yet. But like so often, when they promised us something, there was almost nothing, instead of we had a Koala near us at breakfast and the other day 4 kangaroos at diner. The treetopwalk was also not bad and the coast was really something. At the end the Otways NP was it worth to visit.
East of Melbourne we visited some Dutch friends, I met on the ship from Buenos Aires to Hamburg. It was really a pleasure to see them again. They are now setteling down near Melbourne to live and work there for a couple of years.
