To come to the Danubian Delta we had to go through the highest part of the Carpates. We decided to take the Transfagarasan which is a real nice summit with spectacular sights. Unfortunately we are not the only ones they know that and also unfortunately we went there on weekend, though no wonder very soon we were part of a huge trafic-jam.
On the other side of the pass we found a place to sleep inmidst of a lot of Romanian weekend-campers near a lake. This evening we had the first campfire of the journey like all the other campers.
The road to this place wasn’t really a road, but it was a shortcut on the way south. Next day our companion with his plastic-motorhome went back to the mainroad while we took the nice rocky and muddy road…
The nationalpark Piatra Crajuli with its deep gorges was the next overnightstation. We had fish from the barbeque and later the moon between the walls of the gorge, it was really gorgeous.
In Bran is the former castle of Vlad Tebec the figur, which inspired some authors to write the Dracula-stories. The castle is impressiv but the line to the counter was too long and nobody was in the booth…. So we refused to stand in line for only to go through the castle in the same line like a herd.
The last night in the Carpates we spent on a meadow with a spring where the farmers went to take their water for house and stable. We had some fun, playing around with a boomerang.
