Danubian Delta

We visited this huge national-park by boat. Unfortunately our guide didn’t speak too much english, beside the names of the birds and the lakes. It was a three hours tours about 30km long in a small open boat, we started at 6.00 in the morning at sunrise in heavy wind so it was lousy cold.

We saw some fishermen at work, a lot of nets and fish-baskets, big flocks of Pelicans and Cormorants, Kingfisher und some different herons.

We could taste Waterchestnuts, which we gathered just by putting the hand into the water.

Not far in the South we had a look into the museum and the ruins of the eldest town of Romania - Histria - from about 700 BC, permanently settled untill 700 AD.
