meinreiseblog: ParacasParacas We had some calm days at the Parque Nacional Paracas. It is a desert-like peninsula with a rich fauna. They found a necropolis from the very old Paracas-culture from about 500 BC. Especially the textiles are very nice and and in an excellent shape due to the dry climate. After putting the nicer stuff into the museum they put the dirt over the excavation in order to conserve it. Another tourist-attraction are the Islas Balestes. Some say this are the Galapagos for the poor, because of the huge amount of different birds, sea-lions, penguins and seals. Due to the incredible huge population of birds there was so much guano, people used the islands as a kind of quarry and brought the guano with ships away. Nowadays the islands a closed to people. You can only visit scenery with boats and have a look at it.
